TAB SOUNDS ALARM WITH ROBERT PATTINSON “DEAF” STORY

For as well as they claim to know Robert Pattinson’s life, many outlets still can’t seem to recognize the actor’s trademark facetiousness when they see it.
According to The Sun, Pattinson “is terrified his screaming fans are making him deaf.”
Really?
The Twilight superstar supposedly “revealed” recently that he “already suffers serious hearing difficulties — being made worse by the shrieks of his obsessed female followers.”
“I’m almost completely deaf anyway,” the paperquotes Pattinson as saying.
What the Sun fails to mention, of course, is that Pattinson said he was going deaf in jest from all the screaming that accompanies his every move.
Frenzied crowds greet the actor wherever he goes, and he was playing up the reception he receives at outings such as the noisy Remember Me premiere.
A reporter who recently spent time interviewing Pattinson one-on-one laughingly told Gossip Cop he’s a “teaser” and certainly didn’t have problems hearing the several times they met.
We’ve seen Pattinson in person twice recently, and he didn’t seem to have any difficulty. And other people we’ve contacted said they’ve never (pardon the pun) heard anything troublesome about Pattinson’s ears.
So fans made anxious by the Sun’s alarmist tone need only remember to treat certain reports in the paper like they would one of Pattinson’s off-the-cuff remarks — as a joke.

LISTEN UP! RECYCLED ROBERT PATTINSON RUMORS GET TOSSED

Environmentalists should be really pleased with some gossip sites – they do an awful lot of recycling.
And no one gets the deja vu treatment more than Robert Pattinson.
His relationship with Kristen Stewart “may have all been a scam,” one rumor mill proposes.
Why?
“Because Robert is in love with an ex girlfriend who is also a British model named Kelly Blakewell.”
Sigh.
Has a single outlet actually produced evidence — even weak evidence — that Pattinson is secretly dating Blakewell? A single piece of actual information since this nonsense first surfaced?
Nope. The “new” story cites Showbiz Spy, which last week referenced a random, barely readable fan site where the rumor Gossip Copalready busted had originated.
Since then, nothing factual or reality-based has given the story any credibility. Just repetition.
“Is Robert and Kristens (sic) Relationship A Joke?” asks the recycler.
No, but this “reporting” is.

Another story hitting our inbox today talks about how Pattinson needs someone to “feed” him his lines given his supposedly poor short-term memory. According to the item, he tries to practice “but in the end he still needs a little help.”
The outlet uses Pattinson’s reported difficulty with learning lines to segue into… (surprise!)… faux news about his relationship with Stewart. He and his co-star “have been linked romantically,” but the actor “still won’t completely spill.”
“I think most people like to have a secret with a girl or boyfriend,” Pattinson is quoted as saying. “It keeps things exciting.”
Gossip Cop wonders who “feeds” old lines to this site.
Because Pattinson said those words… MONTHS ago… about his character in The Twilight Saga: New Moon.
*****     *****     *****     *****     *****     *****
Pattinson and Stewart have a lot of projects on the horizon. Hopefully sites will start reporting more about (abundant) professional news instead of reprinting anonymous, discredited junk about secret girlfriends or cannibalizing previous interviews to take quotes out of context.
Throwing garbage into the landfill where it belongs might not be good for the planet, but it’ll warm Gossip Cop’s heart.

A BREAKING “BREAKING DAWN” RUMOR GETS BUSTED

Gossip Cop’s inbox overflowed today with questions about purported production and casting notices for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. A site claims that production has been greenlit, Gus Van Sant “has signed on” to direct, a talent search to cast new characters is underway, and a production timetable is set.

The same site made similar declarations back in October.

It was wrong then.

It’s wrong now.

A source with Summit Entertainment tells Gossip Cop there is still no director or any production arrangements for Breaking Dawn, which will probably be two films, although even that has not been finalized as of now.

Gossip Cop will continue to monitor production rumors, separating fact from fiction.

OFFICIAL: “NO DECISION HAS BEEN MADE”; HOWEVER…

Reports everywhere this evening claim “Breaking Dawn” is going to be adapted into two movies.

The official word given to Gossip Cop from a rep for Summit is, “No decision has been made and as we have said all along we are continuing to work with Stephenie Meyer to bring Breaking Dawn to the big screen.”

HOWEVER, a well-placed source tells Gossip Cop dividing Breaking Dawn into two pictures “is the direction that it’s going in.” We’re told that from a practical standpoint, separating the story into two parts and shooting back-to-back is what makes most sense.

Earlier reports seem to be fairly accurate when it comes to timing, specifically, that filming may begin in October.

LONDON CALLING? ROBERT PATTINSON AND KRISTEN STEWART WRONG HOUSE RUMORS RETURN

Caution: The following report spread by Showbiz Spy goes very wrong, very quickly.

“Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are looking for a house in London!”

Yep, that’s the first line. We warned you!

“They’ve obviously changed their minds about the Isle of Wight then!”

That’s the second line from Showbiz Spy. Pattinson and Stewart “changed their minds” about what, exactly? The time the media floated news about them moving to an island where they vacationed, a completely empty rumor Gossip Cop busted twice? Pattinson and Stewart changed their minds about nothing. When it became apparent Isle of Wight talk was Wrong, outlets changed their minds.

But the third line is most telling: “Anyway!”

As in, “Anyway, who cares about facts?”

This way the site can quickly move on to the next Robsten rumor having set the following precedent: Anything published that winds up not happening can just be attributed to minds changing.

The latest story claims the “Twilight” stars are “looking to set up home in the British capital” to enable their families to become better acquainted.

Not true. None of the sources who spoke with Gossip Cop believed there was a single fact backing up the rumor of Robsten shacking up in London.

And since it’s an awfully thin story, it’s then padded with loose talk that Stewart and Pattinson have been “told to put their careers ahead of their red-hot romance.” “Everyone, from their management to the studios involved in their upcoming movies, is worried [Rob and Kristen] will start to become… distracted,” according to an E! Online item that raised eyebrows. The couple is still together, the narrative goes, but “got a slap on the wrist.”

Gossip Cop has talked with people connected to the Stewart and Pattinson industry hierarchy, and it simply isn’t true that the studio or anyone else has a say in their personal lives.

To repeat a point we’ve made often: Let’s leave status reports on Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson to Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, and without some of the disturbing strategies employed before.
Thanks to Gossip Cop

INSIDE DETAILS ON THE ROBERT PATTINSON “DETAILS” COVER

Message boards and Twitter have been all atwitter about Robert Pattinson’s cover shoot for the March issue of Details magazine.

People are claiming the issue features a partially clothed Pattinson photographed getting “a lap dance,” being “straddled” by a woman,” and even standing while a woman on her knees simulates oral sex on him.

Gossip Cop has the REAL details about what’s really in Details.

First off, Pattinson is FULLY clothed in all of the dozen or so photographs. He’s not even shirtless in any of the pictures.

And there are no straddling shots. No lap dance shots. No simulated oral sex shots. None of it.

While it’s true the models are nude in some pictures, remember that it’s Details magazine, so readers won’t be exposed to their details either.

Insiders tell Gossip Cop the photos are “super sexy,” yet “tasteful.” We also hear the pictures have an “Old Hollywood” feel to them. One source described the photos as embodying “1920s, 1930s Hollywood glamor.”

The Pattinson cover technically hits newsstands on February 23, but Gossip Cop is told some copies will be available a few days earlier.

ITALIAN VANITY FAIR WRONG ABOUT ROBERT PATTINSON

An interview with Robert Pattinson in Italian Vanity Fair has created a huge stir on both sides of the Atlantic.

Hundreds of outlets have zeroed in on a portion of the interview in which Pattinson says, “I am single… almost everything that came out about my private life is false.”

RadarOnline.com highlights the line and declares that it “clears up a few misconceptions about his life and loves in an interview with the magazine,” specifically that it torpedoes rumors of a romance with Kristen Stewart.

So is this – at long last – the final word on Robsten?

Well, allow Gossip Cop to “clear up a few misconceptions” about the interview itself.

We reached out to the Milan offices of Conde Nast (Vanity Fair’s publisher) and asked about the nature of the Pattinson cover story.

The magazine told us the article is actually a compilation of separate interviews (conducted by the same writer) in New York, at Cannes, and in Rome during the Italian promotional leg for “The Twilight Saga: New Moon.” They stressed that it was “not a specific one-on-one,” but rather a “mix of meetings” and interviews.

Most importantly, when asked about the “I am single” line, Vanity Fair told Gossip Cop Pattinson gave that specific remark during the Cannes Film Festival.

Last May.

So sites trying to pass off the “newsy” tidbit as having anything to do with Pattinson’s relationship status are seven months off.

ROBERT PATTINSON AND UMA THURMAN: “BEL” STORY DOESN’T RING TRUE

It’s gotten to the point now where nearly any celebrity relationship news seems to have a Robert Pattinson angle.

As soon as Uma Thurman’s split with Arpad Busson became public, we knew it would trigger immediate speculation about a possible Thurman fling with her co-star in the upcoming “Bel Ami” – Mr. Pattinson. Sure enough, Twitter talked up a possible May-December romance between the “Twilight” heartthrob and the newly single Thurman. So many of our visitors wrote Gossip Cop with questions about the speculation, we decided to make sure our doubts were well founded.

“That is actually funny,” a representative for Thurman told Gossip Cop of Robert & Uma (”Ruma”?) whispers. ”Uma hasn’t even been in the same room as Pattinson,” with whom he notes she won’t start work on “Bel Ami” until the new year.

So there you have it.

Remarkably, Pattinson hasn’t been linked yet to the Tiger Woods scandal… but the week is still young.
