There’s going to be no R-rated Breaking Dawns for Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in the next chapter of the Twilight Saga. Amidst some talk regarding some of the content in the Breaking Dawn and how it would apply on screen, the three priors films having been rated PG-13. MTV confirms that talks of rating were going on at Summit Entertainment regarding policy, but also confirmed that the word is that there will be no change to a R Rating. Distribution chief Richie Fay stated: “It’s always with the eye of making Stephenie Meyer happy and making the audience happy” and added “I can’t say for a fact, but I just don’t see us getting into an R-rated area with any of the ‘Twilight’ titles.”
So basically something to keep Twilight in the news between films, as no studio wants an R Rating if they have been at home and clockingMAJOR figures at PG-13. Summit isn’t trying to make creative statements, Bill Condon on board to direct or not, especially when you consider the raise recently reported in those new cast contracts. These statements reported by MTV jives with that screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg has been singing for months now.
Breaking Dawn will be split into two films, both directed by the aforementioned Bill Condon. The first part will be released on November 18th, 2011 and as of yet no date for the second part has been released (though one has to guess some point in 2012). We recently brought you the word that filming will take place in Louisiana and Vancouver. I'd be happier if the split into 2 films was: one PG version and one R rated version!
